"IN THE BEGINNING"
We now come to the last
part in this present series, based on the first verse of Genesis. "In
the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Several
expositors over the years have commented on the beauty of this verse, a
transcendent beauty of numerical design that simply could not have been the
result of human workmanship. In this paper I should like to mention the work of
Dr Bullinger, Ivan Panin, Dr Charles Ozanne, and Dr Vernon Jenkins, to mention
but four sources, the first two from the turn of the century, and the last two
of the present time.
First of all, let's have a
look at this verse in the Hebrew, as displayed by Vernon Jenkins in an article
which he wrote some years ago. It shows very clearly how the Gematria is
calculated, and gives the totals for the words. (Hebrew words not shown)

The final total is 2701, which is yet
another triangle number, the 73rd in fact. But the last two words of the verse ('and the
earth') add up to 703, which is the 37th triangle number.
It is also interesting to
notice that
407 = 11 X 37,
296 = 8 X 37,
and their sum,
703 = 19 X 37.
The number 37 pervades the
whole of this structure. Having carved off the last two words from the rest, we
find the first five words adding up to 1998, which is 3 X 666, and 666 is the 36th
triangle number!
Now
666 = 18 X 37,
so we have yet another
example of the ubiquitous 37. Vernon Jenkins has depicted this whole verse in a
most graphic manner, by a composite triangle. The central triangle has
numerical value 703, and the three surrounding triangles are each of numerical
value 666. So often these days we are presented with information about the
"Antichrist", and his number, 666, but if that is the case, then why
do we find it THREE TIMES in the first verse of Genesis, before Satan had
fallen?
I should like to present an
answer to that, extracted from a paper I wrote a while bock, [P.T. 80C] after I
had found 666 in Psalm 118:22. The Hebrew of this verse is here presented

The words we are imterested
in are the final two, "Head of the Corner'. They are pronounced L'ROSH
PINNAH, and together they have a numerical value of 666, as shown in the
following table.

When first I found this, I
was so astounded I had to check the calculation THREE TIMES, to make sure I
hadn't been careless, but no, it was certainly the correct sum. So why should
"The Head of the Corner", represent the Lord Jesus Himself, be
accounted as 666? Herein is a great lesson, I feel. 666 was NOT originally a
"bad" number, but it was "stolen" by one who had declared "I
will sit on the mount of the congregation, I will elevate my throne above the
stars of God, I will be like the Most High." (Isaiah 14)
Surely he must have known about these numbers from the very beginning, the one
who was himself "Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty".
(Ezek.28) Therefore I am no longer puzzled about the appearance of 666 three
times in the first verse of the Bible.
There are many other unique
properties to be found in Genesis 1:1, with its amazing variety of factors of
SEVEN. But I must leave these for now, simply because I have wanted to focus on
the appearance of the triangle numbers, and their significant appearance in the
Bible. I'm sure there must be other examples from which lessons may be learned,
and if our readers have an urge to spend a little time investigating, using the
list in P.T.110, then we should be delighted to receive further enlightenment.
Why triangles? Maybe each
triangle is a symbol of the Trinity, placing God's stamp of approval on His own
work. If so, then the Trinity appears WITHIN the triangle of Gen.1 :1, with its
3 X 666, surrounding the central triangle to do with the earth. It is as though
the Godhead is protecting the Geosphere of His plans and purposes. And with
that, we'll leave the mystery of the triangles.
Finally, I should like to
add yet another piece of information, which has come to hand in recent days,
from a magazine published in
"Thus
says the Lord, the King of
This is repeated in
Revelation 1:7-8,
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the
Beginning and the End, the First and the Last."
Surely it isn't without
point that this secretive, untranslatable little word should have pride of
place as the CENTRAL WORD in Genesis 1? Are we being shown the very presence of
the Christ, the Son of God, in this verse, long before His time of
manifestation? It is instructive to see that The Apostle John has used this in
the first verses of his Gospel.
"In
the beginning was the WORD, (the word ETH), and the WORD was with God, (ETH is
placed right next to ELOHIM) and the WORD was God."
And in verse 4,
"And God saw the LIGHT that it was
good."
In the Hebrew it is
ELOHIM ETH HA-OR thus planting the Lord Jesus next to the word LIGHT.
And John said,
"In Him was life, and the life was the
LIGHT of men."
In Zechariah
"I
will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the
spirit of grace and supplication, so that they will look upon ME (ETH) whom
they pierced and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only son, and
weep over Him bitterly, like the bitter weeping over a first-born."
Once again this little word
is found RIGHT NEXT TO the One who is to come again in the clouds of
heaven. Surely in all these things there is great wisdom, hidden
wisdom. Was Paul referring to it in 1 Cor.2:6-7, "We speak
wisdom amongst those who are mature - - the hidden wisdom which God ordained
before the world unto our glory"?
